New Office Vision: A fully blended work experience

EQIQ, Wahl+Case’s parent company, will become a fully-blended work experience, integrating work-from-home with a physical office environment.

Company-wide meetings will be remote first.

EQIQ members will have the ability to choose the working style that suits their preferences and stage of life. It can be in the office, or remote. And, of course, both - blended.

At certain times during the year, we will come together in person for all-company gatherings. These may be training sessions, celebrations, discussions, or something else, but they will be peak events to bring us closer, reinforcing our culture.

The vision for our physical environment is an original, warm, human space that provides different inspiration from WFH, completing our blended EQIQ work experience.

With our blended work environment we will be able to offer flexibility in work styles that meet the preferences and life needs of our valuable members.

Parents will be able to work more flexibly to meet their family needs. Those that need to provide care for ill or ailing family members will be able to do so. Those that wish to work remotely in a different environment from Tokyo can. And those that find remote work more productive will be able to choose that style, as they like, and maintain full inclusivity and participation.

Our office environment will be an original warm space that:

  • Provides for team building, training, and events

  • Has planned social spaces as well as architecture that increases the likelihood for spontaneous conversations

  • Will not be designed for typical job functionality, with piles of paper that always build but never disappear; rather the office will be designed for collaboration and flexible seating

  • Will have Zoom desks/booths, with ideal lighting setups for conducting remote meetings

In the future, we will look to create smaller satellite offices in different locations that meet specific needs. For example, we will look to get a small office close to the station that can be reserved by those who prioritize station proximity. For colleagues that prefer a quiet environment, like some of our engineers, we will create a separate office designed by engineers for engineers.

Overall, we will keep our fixed rent costs low. But we will invest more on the interior space to make it special.

People stay with EQIQ because of the culture. The strength of our culture also allows us to attract larger pools of talent, including talent typically inaccessible to a company at our stage of development, saving on recruiting expenses and employer branding.

Our office environment sets the tone for our culture. We want to build further on our already strong culture, deepening our alignment with our 8 values. It will be as progressive and meaningful and performative a culture that can exist in Tokyo. The strength of our values will allow us to resiliently navigate challenges that arise with this new way of work, and maintain our delectable culture beyond the office, to the remote, distributed arrangements.
